5008 W Ridge Road Medical Office
A Full-Service Site Located West of Erie, PA.
Showman Excavating performed the comprehensive site work for the new medical office development located on West Ridge Road. The initial phase of the project focused on site security and environmental compliance, including the installation of orange plastic construction fencing and the management of various erosion and sediment controls. Our team was responsible for maintaining the rock construction entrance, silt socks, and concrete washout areas, as well as performing street sweeping and site watering as required by NPDES permits.
The earthwork portion of the project involved stripping topsoil and performing necessary cut and fill activities to achieve the specified building pad and site elevations. We were responsible for fine grading and rolling the site to ensure proper compaction and reduce rain infiltration. Additionally, Showman Excavating managed the removal of excess soil and coordinated with other trades to handle material stockpiles across the construction site.
Underground utility installation was a major component of our scope, covering sanitary, water, and storm sewer systems. We tied into the existing sanitary lateral with 6-inch PVC lines and installed a complete water service that included a meter enclosure, backflow preventer, and tracer wire. The storm sewer work involved the removal of existing pipes and the installation of new catch basins, RCP Type V piping, and PVC downspout lines, all of which were carefully sealed to prevent leakage.
To prepare the site for final surfacing, we installed a 6-inch thick 2A stone subbase and performed fine grading for the pavement and concrete areas. Our work included a loaded triaxial truck test of the subbase to identify and stabilize any soft spots prior to the arrival of the paving contractor. We also provided the necessary excavation and grading for sidewalks and ADA-compliant ramps, along with the installation of a gas sleeve beneath the pavement subgrade.
